Family Law Mediation

Mediation is less stressful and can save time and money

About Alison:

Picture
I am registered with the Family Mediation Council as an accredited mediator, Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) and child consultant.

I also hold professional membership with the Family Mediators Association (FMA) My office is based in the centre of Derby in Riverside Chambers. As a small independent practice we regret that we are not able to offer publicly funded mediation or help via the temporary Government Voucher Scheme.

My Role

As your mediator my role is to help you sort out the many issues that arise when a relationship has broken down. I can help you make decisions that you will both be comfortable with. Most importantly if children are involved I will support and help you to look at the arrangements you want to put in place for their care.

Financial Matters

Whilst in mediation I can help you manage your financial disclosure and achieve workable solutions that can then be included in a formal order of the court when appropriate.

Child Consultation

If it is appropriate I can meet with your children and speak with them to discover their wishes and feelings as part of the mediation process. For more information about how children can be affected by separation see Voices in the Middle. You can find additional information about your child's needs and the Cafcass Parenting Plan at  https://www.cafcass.gov.uk/grown-ups/parents-and-carers/divorce-and-separation/parenting-plan/

Understanding Family Mediation

If you want to understand a little more about how Mediation can help please click on the link below and watch the video that has been prepared by the Ministry of Justice, it is in cartoon format and will only take a few minutes of your time.

Remote Working

Currently all Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMS) and Mediation sessions are taking place remotely via the online platform Zoom. Our ability to offer face to face meetings is under constant review but as of July 2020 we are not yet at a point when we can resume meetings in our office at Riverside Chambers.

In the meantime, we would like to assure clients that following the lockdown and our shift to working online, we have found that holding meetings via Zoom have proven to be successful. In many cases, clients have preferred this option to physically having to travel into the centre of Derby. We have therefore adopted remote working as part of our standard practice.

Please note that you do not have to subscribe to Zoom in order to join an online meeting, we will send you an email that contains the link that you will need to click on to enter the meeting at the agreed time.
